The bagpipe music at the Strakonice Elementary School was founded in 1970 with the arrival of Vojtěch Hrubý as the school principal. He came up with the idea of establishing a bagpipe music in the Prácheň Folk Songs and Dances Ensemble under the direction of Josef Režný and was, of course, influenced by the bagpipe tradition of the town. Since then, its tradition and popularity have been growing steadily, and with the increasing number of students, in recent years there have been even two (sometimes three) bagpipe music groups at the school, which are divided according to the age of the children into the preparatory Small Bagpipe Music and the Large Bagpipe Music of the Strakonice Elementary School. The Small Bagpipe Music is intended for younger students aged 6-15 and usually has approximately 15 to 20 students. The Large Bagpipe Music is for older students, usually around ten to fifteen students. The ensembles are always composed of current students of the Elementary School of Arts in Strakonice. The band is united by a passion for folk music and folklore, the joy of playing and singing folk songs, and it is called "Dudácká" precisely because it must include an instrument called "dudy", Czech bagpipes. Czech bagpipes are most often tuned to E flat major, which is why the entire repertoire is built on this key, only exceptionally in another key. The ensemble plays songs from the Prachen region, as well as songs from southwestern Bohemia, and strives to continue maintaining, reviving, and developing traditions while strengthening the relationship with our musical roots. The inspiration for the students of the Bagpipe Music in Strakonice is the International Bagpipe Festival in Strakonice, held every two years, where bagpipers and bagpipe musicians from all over the world gather.

Awards and international cooperation
